Art And Writing That Instill A Sense Of Wonder

Wonder is the dynamo that drives the world. Wonder, imagination and inventiveness are the cornerstones of a meaningful life. Each helps to stimulate our mind to assure us of a fulfilling day, every day. I am an experienced author and visual artist keen about communication. My creations prompt people to look beyond what seems obvious, to think and to see outside of the box, and to open their mind to new emotions and dimensions

The Art of Wonder, the Power to Inspire

Books On Commission

I craft thought-provoking books that awaken curiosity and stir the imagination. With a keen sense for visual perception and creative thinking, I help publishers and educators inspire their audiences—offering not just content, but a way to see the world anew.

Visual & Kinetic Art

I create perceptual artworks that defy expectation and draw the eye. From museum walls to public spaces, my pieces transform how people see and feel—inviting engagement through visual play, reflection, and discovery. Each work is crafted to question reality.

New Concepts

I design playful and intelligent objects—where science meets art and curiosity. From mind-bending games to hands-on experiences, each concept is built to spark imagination across ages and cultures, leaving lasting impressions and fostering creative exploration.

I Am The Architect of Wonder

Is there really a boundary between visual art and writing? Both disciplines use signs and conventions to express a thought or feeling. Visual art and writing are so connected that it is even possible to paint with words or write with light and colors! Both share an essential feature: communication. Nowadays, artistic manifestations are many and varied, crossing the disciplines of literature, the fine arts, and graphic design, in a fertile intersection of creative innovation.
My name is Gianni A. Sarcone, and I am an international visual artist and author with decades of experience in the fields of optical art (op art) and visual creativity. Much of my art blurs the line between cognitive science and communication.

Major international galleries, publishers, and agencies have appreciated, used, and enjoyed my work to capture the attention of and entertain people all around the world. I love to integrate my work with different disciplines and to apply it to all aspects of our everyday life. All my work is intended to encourage people to look beyond what seems obvious and to open their minds to new emotions and dimensions.
Alongside my art, I have authored an extensive collection of books in multiple languages, covering mental skill training, critical thinking, visual art, and the mechanisms of vision. I also founded Archimedes' Lab Project™ [archimedes-lab.org], a consulting network of experts specializing in developing creativity, with the goal of forming and training the future creative minds who will design the world of tomorrow.
In 2018, I was honored with the prestigious Royal Society's Young People's Book Prize.

Moona Lisa: My Optical Art Blending Creativity and Science

A mosaic of lunar images that, from a distance, forms Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Featured twice as NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): on October 16, 2021, and September 14, 2024, for International Observe the Moon Night.

Master of Numbers

I created this photomosaic portrait using photos of numbers, resulting in an optical illusion that reveals a famous physicist from a distance. This artwork illustrates how reality depends on context. Master of Numbers is featured in many museums worldwide.

Dynamic Müller-Lyer Illusion

As one of the most recognized optical illusions, the Müller-Lyer illusion has inspired numerous variants and developments. I showcased original animations at the 2017 Best Illusion of the Year Contest, impressing the scientific community.

Face of Paris: A Sublime Subliminal Encounter

This captivating sepia-toned photograph invites viewers to explore its surreal depths. Upon closer inspection, a ghostly face emerges, enhancing the work's enigmatic atmosphere. This piece has won several awards.

Mask of Love: A Bistable Paradox

Observe this Venetian mask closely; it holds a fascinating secret! Many people overlook that its main feature comprises two distinct faces—a man and a woman kissing each other. This illusion was nominated for Best Illusion of the Year.

Tic-Tac-Toe Color Delusion

Through this 3×3 Tic-Tac-Toe grid, I demonstrate how easily our perception of color brightness can be deceived. The large green square behind the red grid may appear uniform, but it’s actually checkered with dark and light green boxes.
